St. Andrew's Abbeyfield
A home within a home, security, companionship and comfort
St Andrew’s Abbeyfield is a volunteer led non-profit society that has been providing affordable housing for independent seniors in Sidney since 1987. Nine residents live in this lovely spacious home, accommodated in their own comfortable bed sitting rooms with two piece ensuite and furnished with their own things. Each room has its own small garden patio. All residents share the remainder of the house, just like a family. They enjoy home cooked, nutritious meals together, prepared by the house coordinator, who also attends to the daily running of the house. Abbeyfield is a well established, small scale, affordable family style option for independent seniors.
St Andrew’s Abbeyfield is an independent seniors’ home with a difference. Residents enjoy companionship when they want it, privacy when they need it, security and independence. It is an affordable small scale housing option with a friendly, supportive homey atmosphere. The number of residents is kept small to allow the home-like atmosphere to flourish. The house is located within walking distance of the down town area, the library and a seniors’ centre. Residents remain engaged in their community activities while enjoying life in their Abbeyfield home. Abbeyfield does not provide nursing care.
